Types of Gardens
Gardens do not always consist of the sweet smelling pink flowers that we see in our beloved grandmother’s outdoor sanctuary. There are numerous amounts of garden that range from flowers to strictly trees. Some have developed grandiosity while other gardens pride themselves on simplicity.
One of the most elaborate and widely publicized gardens is the botanical gardens. Botanical gardens are characteristically well tended and contain flowers not only from the local area but from all over the world. These “flowers” may come in the form of trees as well as aquatic plants or even the traditional colorful leafy flower. The flowers in these gardens display the proper botanical names so the visitor will always know what he or she is experiencing.
One other very common garden that some may try their hands at is a vegetable garden. Typically this type of garden will contain things such as tomatoes and some type of fruit that could be bought at a grocery store. In fact some back in time actually called their vegetable garden a victory garden because it could provide some of the necessary foods for their families. Herb gardens are much of the same except they contain different herbs that are used in cooking.
Other gardens such as wildlife gardens are used to attract certain animals or insects. One of these widely known and used gardens is a butterfly garden. In the butterfly gardens plants that attract butterflies are planted in order to attract as many butterflies as possible. Some problems may occur in these types of gardens such as other insect infestations.
More and more gardens are popping up around the world. Some pride themselves in the neatly manicured and tended lawns while others are the complete opposite. Gardens such as a natural or native garden simply use native plants that are already naturally occurring in the area.
